Fresh Dairy, Eggs, Hummus & Pesto, Plus Grassfed & Pastured Meats, Tofu, Apples, Veggies & More!

What We Have and What’s Expected for the Week of September 16th

Place Your Orders Here!

Going into this week, mostly we’re just glad to be open, for all of our frozen inventory to have made out safely in the storm, thanks to our backup freezer that has automatic generators at Second Harvest and to not have dozens and dozens of eggs in our walk in fridge at the farm that we couldn’t sell like after Ida!

Lessons learned, we were much more prepared this time and then thankfully the storm wasn’t as bad.

So there’s plenty of fresh dairy and eggs for you, plus frozen pork, beef, goat meat and chicken, along with limited seafood.

Produce is a little limited as always on Mondays since we sold most of what we got delivered on Friday on Friday and Saturday! But we do have several varieties of apples from Scott’s Orchard and more coming tomorrow.

There’s also lots of hummus and pesto from Nur’s Kitchen, jams, jellies, preserves and pickles, honey and maple syrup, coffee, cold brew, chai concentrate, herbal teas and simple syrups, stone-milled flours, heirloom grains and grits, pecan products, oils and vinegars, salts and seasonings, herbal tinctures and lots more.

Word is that we may be able to get some salad greens this week, along with more tomatoes from Two Dog Farms. Some heirloom pumpkins may be coming in later this week, too, and then persimmons should start next week and satsumas in three weeks or so.

And then more fresh bread is coming on Wednesday and Friday this week, as usual, along with more fresh pasta tomorrow.

Here's the full list breakdown of all our grocery categories:

  • Donations for Mutual Aid: The top of the storefront includes our mutual aid shares. Egg production is really ramping up, at least from the new flock, so removing the meat share option for now to concentrate on eggs and produce! We brought about 42.5 dozen eggs to Second Harvest on Tuesday ahead of the storm. They have generator backup for all of their coolers and freezers so they will be put to good use!

  • Pastured Eggs: We have some medium size, extra large and pullet eggs in the storefront currently, a bunch more of all sizes coming tomorrow! Still doing the sale on pullet eggs while some birds are still laying those sizes, but it won’t last much longer.

  • Pastured Dairy: We got Feliciana’s Best dairy in on Friday last week after the storm passed, so there’s plenty of milk, cream, half & half, chocolate milk and creole cream cheese in available currently and there’s also more fresh Southern Maids goat milk, feta cheeses, creole cream cheese and yogurt available, too. I blanked on ordering more chèvre, but we will have it back next week.

  • Bread & Pasta: Out of all bread and crostini, but do have croutons, a few frozen pizza dough and frozen pastas. More fresh bread and buns and crostini coming on Wednesday and more fresh pasta coming Tuesday.

  • Local Produce: Asian pears, three types of apples, frozen blueberries, bullhorn and Lesya sweet peppers, delicata and butternut squashes and orange or purple sweet potatoes. We are expecting more apples, plus cucumbers, eggplant, summer squash, okra, hot peppers, muscadine grapes and possibly cherry tomatoes to be delivered tomorrow on Wednesday!

  • Plant-Based Protein: Soy & pumpkin seed tempeh, plus plain, black mushroom or lemongrass tofu.

  • Forest-Raised Pork: We’re doing a sale on spare ribs again, plus there’s plenty of bacon and bacon ends, tenderloin, pork stir fry strips, bone-in or boneless chops, Boston butt or picnic shoulder roasts, jowl, stew meat, smoked hocks, plain ground pork, bratwurst, Cajun links, Andouille, breakfast links or bulk sausage, chorizo, Italian links or bulk sausage and ears, bones, trotters, liver, lard for rendering and skin pieces (great for cracklins!).

  • Grassfed Beef: Big restock before the storm! The summer sale on sirloin steaks has come to an end, but not we’ve got shish kebab pieces on sale. These can also be used as steak bites. And ironically they’re cut from the sirloin, too. It’s a big middle tier primal so we always seem to end up with a lot no matter how we cut it! Plus there’s plenty of ground beef, hamburger and slider patties, filet, ribeyes, NY Strips, chuck eye, picanha, bavette, flank, skirt and Denver steaks, plus brisket, tri tip, eye of round roasts, shoulder roasts, London broil or tenderized round steaks, stew meat, short ribs and riblets/Flanken short ribs, osso bucco shanks, cheeks, oxtail, tongue, liver, kidney, bones and fat for rendering.

  • Wild-Foraged Goat: Goat legs, shoulders, shanks, stew meat/kebab pieces and ribs are on sale, plus there’s neck roasts, too. Getting ready to process more goats and we’ll go much more ground on the shoulder and leg cuts this time to respond to demand.

  • Pastured Poultry: Whole chickens, leg quarters, feet, backs and necks at the moment. It’s still going to be a few more weeks before we can restock breasts and wings from Mahaffey’s first fall batch of chickens.

  • Gulf Seafood: Getting a little limited on seafood, hoping to restock this week. In the meantime, there’s the new Jolted Porgy filets, red snapper and red grouper filets, soft-shell crabs, red snapper collars and smoked amber jack portions.

  • Coffee & Tea: Plenty of cold brew, chai concentrate and simple syrups from Church Alley, as well as well ground coffee and beans from Flamjeaux and new and favorite herbal teas from Family Fungi. Skipped a coffee delivery last week with the storm, hoping to replenish this week to make up for it!

  • Dips & Condiments: Nur’s Kitchen is back and we picked up another fresh round of hummus and pesto on Saturday.

  • Pantry: Plenty of popcorn! Plus limited glazed pecans, pecan meal and pecan oil from Guidry’s, all flavors of granola, dried mushrooms from Family Fungi, two kinds of mushroom seasoning, black garlic salts, chili oil from VEGGI Coop, hot sauce, chili crisp and sambal from Southern Chili Lab, Texas olive oil and balsamic vinegar and Georgia’s Vinaigrette from Church Alley.

  • Sweets: Wisconsin Maple syrup, plus more honey in either squeeze bottles or glass jars. And there's Blueberry Infused honey and creamed honey, too, with a restock of honey in glass jars and elderberry infused honey coming on Tuesday.

  • Rice, Grains & Stone Ground Corn Products: Lots of rice, grits, cornmeal and whole grain and clay pea options from Two Brooks Rice and Marsh Hen Mill, plus stone-milled flours from Barton Springs Mill.

  • Ferments: Plenty of veggie ferments -- several types of kimchi, kraut and other fermented veggies from Gingberbooch, VEGGI Coop and Resurrection Gardens. Kombucha and probiotic lemonade and limeade expected to come in this week.

  • Preserves: We have a good supply of Josey's Goods’ pickles, fruit jams and jellies and pepper jellies. Hoping to restock some things that just came back in season like pickled okra and green beans and fig preserves in the next couple of weeks.

  • Herbal Remedies: A few elderberry syrup options from Cockeyed Farms and AndiLynn's and Family Fungi. And there's several varieties of South of Eden's herbal tinctures, plus Lion's Mane, Reishi or Turkey Tail mushroom tinctures and the Remedy Tincture, combining several kinds of mushroom extractions in one.

  • Merch: Canvas bags and insulated totes, t-shirts, hats, mugs and greeting cards.
