New Partnership for Surplus Eggs!

This week we got to fulfill a goal we’ve had few months: deliver pre cracked eggs to Grace at the Greenlight!

The organization serves breakfast 365 days a year to the unhoused community (or anyone who needs it) at the St. Jude Community Center on N. Rampart St.

One of their staff reached out a few months ago. As the cost of eggs and other breakfast foods have had dramatic price fluctuations in the past few months, they were seeking to potentially partner with farms for surplus eggs.

While there are times of the year where we don’t have much of a surplus, in late summer and early fall when our new flock starts laying and before the older flocks start molting, we do have plenty available.

We were able to donate 25 dozen eggs (pre cracked!) and expect to continue as often as possible as production keeps up. Thank you so much for your gifts to our mutual aid shares to help us do this!

We still love utilizing the New Orleans Community Fridges to drop off eggs, as well as produce and meat shares, but Grace at the Greenlight feeds upwards of 190 individuals every day and it’s nice to spread the good eggs around as much as possible!
