LOCAL COOLING FARMS
First generation farmers Kate and Grant Estrade own and operate Laughing Buddha Nursery and Local Cooling Farms, their 60 acre regenerative farm south of Bogalusa.
They bought the land that would become Local Cooling Farms in 2014 and named the farm to invoke regenerative agriculture’s role in mitigating global warming, ie. Local Cooling!
At the farm, they focus on maximizing nutrient cycling (nature’s loop of production, consumption and decomposition) and raising livestock with respect and integrity, allowing them to express their true nature (chickens scratch, pigs root, cattle graze, goats browse). Kate and Grant raise grass fed beef cattle, forest raised and pastured pork and wild foraged goat, as well as a flock of laying hens for eggs.
Their market, Laughing Buddha, has grown and developed to serve as a direct conduit to provide these high quality proteins to the New Orleans metro area, and now offers hundreds of local and regional products grown, raised and produced by the other vendors listed in this directory.
