FLAMJEAUX COFFEE

Flamjeaux is a manifestation of a dream that was brewing for years for owner and operator Margot Brignac. Her love affair with coffee, which guided her 20+ year career, started as general manager of the flagship CC’s Gourmet Coffee House and her curiosity with roasting coffee led to the creation of Flamjeaux.

Her company gets its name from the traditional gas torches, or Flambeaux (the word for flames in French) that were originally used in Mardi Gras parades to light the route before lighting was available (and that are still used in many parades today).

As coffee is roasted over flame, it seemed fitting to weave in this New Orleans tradition. Flamjeaux sources single origin coffee from small producers whose coffee is sampled and graded. Much of it is organically grown, but the official Fair Trade and Certified Organic labels are of more concern to larger corporations more removed from their growers.

While Flamjeaux focuses primarily on single origin coffees, Margot does make some special blends, including a Colombian/Ethiopian Light Roast called Mossy Oak, that she originally developed per our request for a great light roast!
