Salad Greens Are Here! Plus Pumpkin Granola, Restocked Meats, Summer & Fall Veggies, Eggs, Pecan Products & More!

What We Have and What’s Expected for the Week of September 30th

Place Your Orders Here!

I don’t know about you, but it’s felt like a longer, hotter summer than usual without salad greens.

Maybe part of it is that in years past we’ve been able to get beautiful purple mizuna mustard greens, arugula and a salad mix from Maranatha Greens and St. Joseph’s Homestead in early to mid August. This year though, apparently they are struggling with fungal pest issues that is particularly effecting delicate salad greens.

So River Queen Greens has come in clutch with our first salad greens of the season. We had a bunch of arugula, plus mesclun mix, microgreens and basil. Arugula is sold out and there’s just a few of the latter three left. We should be able to get another batch from them on Wednesday or Thursday afternoon. And Compostella Farm should start their deliveries soon, too!

Other signs of fall include a fun seasonal granola flavor, Pumpkin Patch, from Good Granoly. We also restocked all eight other flavors and I can recommend combining the pumpkin flavor with Apple Crisp for the ultimate fall granola bowl!

We did a big meat restock from the backup freezer on Tuesday, so there is more ground beef, pork tenderloin, sausages and chicken leg quarters.

Guidry’s sent us more pecan butter and glazed pecans last week, too, plus we got more fresh mushrooms as well as herbal teas and the Remedy mushroom tincture from Family Fungi.

There’s plenty of eggs, goat dairy and other veggies including beautiful eggplant and bell peppers from Faust Farms. New Autumn Frost squashes came in from Two Dog Farms this week and we expect more of those, plus heirloom pumpkins, butternut and delicata squashes this week, too.

Fresh dairy from Feliciana’s Best will arrive Tuesday, as usual, along with more fresh pasta Tuesday and Thursday and fresh bread and buns on Wednesday and Friday.
