Peak Citrus, Gingerbooch, Grassfed Beef & Goat Meat, Goat Dairy, Mushroom Sale & More!
What We Have and What’s Expected for the Week of January 6th
Place Your Orders Here!
There’s still a plethora of local food available from our foodshed, which is more than can be said in lots of other parts of the country in January, particularly when it comes to produce!
However, most of the farms we source from are north of New Orleans and will be experiencing several nights of freezing temperatures. If the wind dies down, it will be easier for the row covers to stay on and protect the plants. But of course, it remains to be seen if some things come to an end with this Arctic Blast!
For now, we’re starting the week with our usual greens and other winter veggies, along with apples and lots of citrus. We got blood oranges in late last week and will get more this week — they are absolutely delicious and certified organic since they come from L’Hoste. We should be adding tangerines and kumquats tomorrow, too.
We will get more strawberries tomorrow, also.
And Family Fungi has tons of oyster mushrooms, so we’re doing the bulk one pound bags this week. We have some in stock currently and getting another round on Thursday.
Our chickens are still laying limited eggs, but we’ll try to reserve as many as we can for you, our retail customers.
Our pastured pork, plus our grass-finished beef and goat meat are stocked up. Chicken is limited, but we should be able to get more whole birds, breasts, wings and necks tomorrow. Aiming to restock seafood (especially shrimp) this week, too!
Southern Maids stocked us up on goat milk, cheeses, creole cream cheese and yogurt and Feliciana’s Best will deliver their dairy tomorrow by midday as usual.
And after a production delay, Gingerbooch restocked us on Saturday with all flavors of Gingerbooch, plus probiotic lemonade or limeade. We’re going to be adding a new brand of kombucha this week, too!
Plus there’s plenty of coffee and herbal teas and tinctures, jams and jellies, pickles and ferments, frozen pasta, dried beans, peas, rice, grits and other whole grains, plus stone-milled flours, pecan products, seasonings, hot sauces and lots more.
