Apples Are Coming! Plus More Melons, Peaches, Pullet Egg Sale, Meat & Seafood, Simple Syrups & More!
What We Have and What’s Expected for the Week of August 5th
Place Your Orders Here!
Well, the produce list and the variety of pork, beef and chicken cuts are a little lower than we like to see, but we’ll change that this week!
The first apples of the season from Mountain View Orchard are expected on tomorrow’s delivery. These will be Gala Apples and then we’ll source as many different varieties as we can from both Mountain View and Scott’s Orchard as the season goes on. They end the season with some storage varieties like Pink Lady and Arkansas Black that often last us through January in many cases!
Since I was out sick all last week, we went much longer than we often do on restocking pork, beef and chicken from our back up freezer public warehousing at Second Harvest. So I am aiming to do that either Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning to add back more bacon, pork chops, ribs and sausages, plus ground beef, filet, chuck roasts, and chicken leg quarters.
The new flock of chickens is kicking into high gear, so there will be plenty of small pullet eggs and we do an escalating sale on those, the more you buy, the lower the price per dozen. I personally like these because the yolk to white ratio is better, too!
And there’s still plenty of peaches, peppers, eggplant and okra in the produce realm, with more of those expected tomorrow, along with cucumbers, possibly watermelons and summer squash.
We also have lots of fermented veggies, cold brew and chai and simple syrups, coffee and teas, rice and other whole grains, stone-milled flours, seasonings and salts, bake-at-home biscuits, granola, jams and jellies, oils and vinegars and more.
