Shrimp, Hummus, Melons & Muscadines Are Back, Plus New Seafood, Meat Restock, Fresh Pasta & More!

What We Have and What’s Expected for the Week of August 26th

Place Your Orders Here!

We’ve got much more produce to start the week this week!

Personal circumstances aligned and we were able to receive a big produce order on a rare Monday, even though we’re closed, versus Tuesday.

More cantaloupes and sugar baby watermelons came in! Plus beautiful muscadine grapes. And there’s also red or yellow beefsteak tomatoes, yellow squash and zucchini, beautiful peppers, Japanese eggplant, butternut or delicata squash, turnips and orange or purple sweet potatoes. There’s a variety of gourmet mushrooms from Screaming Oaks, too, with more expected on Thursday.

Note, we generally prioritize growers that strive for biodynamic and organic growing practices even if they do not pursue USDA organic certification, but this time of year the offerings can be limited. Compostella Farm, Cicada Calling Farm and River Queen Greens are all on their summer breaks and if not just getting back and beginning to seed for fall crops.

So the tomatoes, yellow squash, zucchini and muscadine grapes are all from Big Charlie’s Produce Farm in Mobile, Ala., a conventional farm.

Generally I find smaller scale farms, even if conventional, do use as minimal pest control as possible from a time, labor and cost perspective. Long story short, we will always be transparent about the growing methods of the products we offer, but in this case we feel like variety is better than not much produce at all!

Nur's Kitchen finished their renovations, so we have our beloved hummus back in stock after a few weeks without it. There’s mostly the large sizes of the dressed options available and then we will restock again on Wednesday.

We also restocked from Anna Marie Seafood last week, so we have all sizes of shrimp, as well as some new fish options.

And we did a big freezer restock of beef, pork and chicken, including tons of ground beef, ribeye, short ribs, osso bucco shanks and eye of round roasts, plus bone-in and boneless chops, tenderloin, Italian sausage, Boston butt roasts, whole chickens, leg quarters and more!

Finally, Cockeyed Farms delivered more of their goodies last week, so elderberry juice and their honey in glass jars are back.

There's also Southern Maids goat dairy products, biscuits to bake at home, granola, jams and jellies, pickles and ferments, kombucha, rice, grits, fresh pasta, stone-milled flour, coffee, herbal teas, seasonings, salts, maple syrup and more.

Feliciana’s Best dairy is set to be delivered around midday on Tuesday as usual.

We are getting better and better at utilizing all the features of Local Line 2.0, so now in addition to the sale items populating in their own category, we also added some tags to help highlight certain products.

So after the whole list of different product categories, you can also filter by tag categories including: New, On Sale, Recently Restocked and Staff Favorites. Make sure to check those out!
