ANNA MARIE SEAFOOD

An industry leader in sustainable standards, third generation fisherman Lance Nacio founded Anna Marie Seafood in 1997 to produce “good, clean and wholesome” seafood. Growing up about an hour outside of New Orleans, “down the bayou” in Lafourche parish, Lance learned how to sustainably fish from his father and grandfather.

Lance’s family, like others, made a living from the land. They shrimped, trapped, and grew much of what they ate in their own backyard. Pairing these traditions with modern innovations, such as an onboard freezer, wider mesh nets and modified turtle excluder devices to reduce bycatch, Lance improves fishing practices, freshness standards and wildlife sustainability, demonstrating his commitment to environmentally responsible fishing methods. These efforts directly help to ensure that Louisiana fish and shrimp will thrive for future generations. “Born free, caught wild and delivered fresh” is their motto.
